In this day and age, it is extremely difficult to keep track of one’s health and well-being at all points in time. There are days, and months even when a person goes without giving a bother to their body and its functions. A healthy lifestyle may seem difficult to maintain, but in reality, it is very simple, and easy to follow through once a person gets into the habit of it.
Here are some basic steps to maintaining a healthy routine
- Diet
The term ‘diet’ does not directly refer to fasting and not eating for hours, or keeping the food intake at its minimum. Keeping a healthy diet is basically ensuring that all the nutrients that the body requires are being taken in the right proportions, at the right time. The five main nutrients that the body requires are Vitamins, Minerals, Carbohydrates, Proteins and Fats. All of these are available in the most common food items that are available in each house, such as vegetables, pulses, rice, dairy materials, meat, fish, etc. Apart from food, regular water intake is also essential for one’s health. While juices and pulps are also great for health, they should not be used as a replacement for regular water.
- Exercise
People like to complicate the concept of exercise by promising non-achievable fitness routines to themselves, and making resolutions that may not be ideal for their own body. A simple, achievable, and fun exercise routine can be made possible easily considering the number of options that are available today. There is aerobics, zumba, yoga, etc., which are all great exercising techniques and help in other aspects as well. Practicing any of these regularly, or for a minimum of 5 hours a week could bring about a huge difference in one’s health.
- Sleep
A very crucial step in maintaining a healthy lifestyle is getting a good amount of sleep. On an average, an adult should get around 6 to 8 hours of sleep each day. Skipping those hours could result in a lot of health issues and can cause harm in one’s overall performance for the entire day. Sleep is often overlooked and neglected by many but getting a decent amount of sleep each day is important.
These aspects may vary from person to person as each body functions differently, hence, the best way to form a routine is to stick with your instinct and talk to your doctor. Once a routine is scaled out, if followed to the mark, the changes that come with it will be very visible and help one lead a healthy life.
